Inside Abbey Road

By | Featured, Music

Thanks to Google you can now glimpse the magic that goes on inside the world’s most famous recording studio. In this virtual tour you get to ‘walk’ anywhere you like inside the studios, tinker with the mastering equipment and you even get the chance to learn how to cut vinyl. Video and audio files are available that tell the studio’s fascinating history – from the footage of the world’s first live global broadcast to Jay Z discussing his Magna Carta album with Zane Lowe.

The iconic zebra crossing is the closet most people get the studios. More than half a million people visit the crossing every year – but the studio is closed to the general public since it opened for business in 1931. Now, with Google’s interactive project the hallowed halls of Abbey Road are private no more! You can explore every inch of the iconic recording studio and learn about its history.

Giles Martin, a producer based at Abbey Road for artists like Paul McCartney, and whose father Sir George Martin produced The Beatles, said: “Abbey Road Studios has been a hive of creativity and source of world-class recordings for more than 80 years. This collaboration with Google gives the outside world a great insight into the everyday workings of the studio and allows anyone to glimpse the magic that goes on inside the world’s most famous recording studio.”

J.Y. Park – Who’s your mama? feat. Jessi

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

This is the perfect video for #WackyWednesday ! The song is damn catchy and the video will crack you up- it’s hilarious! The song has swept the music charts across South Korea, replacing girl group Miss A’s Only You and is getting more than a million YouTube hits a day. Rapper Jessi of ‘Lucky J’ is also featured in the single and video.

J.Y. Park basically worships the booty against a background of a funky beat. He has the audacity to ask girls in the gym what waist and hip measurements they have! Try that in Europe or America and you’d get your face slapped pretty quick! Overall, YouTube comments seems very positive – “i usually dislike this kind of songs and mvs (girls, butts, boobs) but surprisingly, jyp pulls it off perfectly” and another “Omg, Korean Iggy in the house! This song is catchy and the vid cracked me up!”

J. Y Park, otherwise known as Park Jin-young is a South Korean music mogul – a rapper, singer, producer and CEO of JYP Entertainment. He is also one of the three judges on the show K-Pop Star 4 (South Korea’s version of The Voice). Park made an official comeback with his new album 24/34 in the final episode of Season 4 on Sunday (April 12).

Park has released 7 albums and also composed and produced over 31 charting singles and 25 albums for various groups in South Korea including Rain and Wonder Girls. Park also became the first Asian producer to successfully cross over to the US, producing music for Will Smith, Mase and Cassie.

Marvel’s Ant-Man – Trailer 1

By | Films | No Comments

The first full trailer for Ant-Man has landed and it’s awesome! Full of microscopic action we see Paul Rudd play an adorable superhero armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Master thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Doctor Hank Pym (Michale Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s latest project seems to have a sense of humor as well as a great storyline. There are plenty of laugh out loud one-liners and funny-man Paul Rudd steps into the suit with ease.

We can’t wait for July 17 when Ant-Man to scurries into theatres – Rolling Stone considers the film to be one of the 68 Reasons That This Year will Rule.

Janelle Monáe, Jidenna – Yoga

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Janelle Monáe has released a music video for her collaborative track Yoga with singer and label mate Jidenna. We love the tongue in cheek, breezy verse “She did that yoga / Looking for my loafers man, I woke up in a toga,”. The club comes to the yoga studio in this fun video.

This electro-soul track is quite seductive, supported by metallic handclaps and a stuttering beat. It’s the first new single from Monáe since her second album Electric Lady (2013). It will be featured on the upcoming label compilation EP Wondaland Presents: The Eephus which is due to drop this summer. The 5-track EP will feature songs from other acts on the label including St. Beauty, Deep Cotton and Roman GianArthur.

“Baby, bend over / Let your booty do that yoga,”. Sounds like Nirvana to us!

Charles Hamilton – New York Raining ft. Rita Ora

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Rapper and producer Charles Hamilton and Rita Ora have premiered the music video for their new single New York Raining. The retro clip, directed by Max and Dania, pays homage to the history of the Civil Rights Movement. Hamilton raps and plays the piano, whilst Ora’s smooth vocals delight the ear – the track is already notching up plenty of radio play.

The radio-friendly single has already left it’s mark on the TV community. Hamilton and Ora showcased the track on the The Voice UK final, as well as on the season finale of Empire, plus NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Hamilton shot to fame in 2009 after being supported and championed by Eminem. Since then he released loads of EPs and mix tapes – but has been out of circulatiom for a while recovering from bipolar disorder and addiction. It’s good to see him back in the game! If you are still unsure about who he is, head over to Hot New Hip Hop and check out their article 10 Tracks To Familiarize Yourself With Charles Hamilton.

New York Raining is released in the UK on May 31 via Republic/Virgin EMI.

The Nokia theatre in Los Angeles, California was abuzz with the hottest stars in Hollywood last night at the 24th instalment of the MTV Movie Awards. The Fault in Our Stars was the big winner of the evening pulling in Movie of the Year, Best Female Performance (Shailene Woodley) and Best Kiss.

charlixcx-MTVAwards-Creation5

The show was hosted by 33-year-old comedienne Amy Shumer who certainly lived up to her promise of “dirty, hard and crazy” jokes. Her opening monologue included some quips at MTV, Kevin Hart, One Direction and even herself! On One Direction: “Hillary Clinton finally announced she’s taking Zayn’s spot in One Direction. The first woman in One Direction. I never thought I’d live to see the day!”

Schumer didn’t hold back, which is why everyone loves her so much, and you could see how much she enjoyed the show ““This is going to be the party of the year. I just hope that Harrison Ford doesn’t crash it.”

Best Moments: The Avengers kneeling before Robert Downey Jr – Downey’s inspirational acceptance speech “dream big, work hard, keep your nose clean, be of service, and yes because you can…Define your generation” and Vin Diesel singing a tribute to Paul Walker. Oh, and let’s not forget Channing Tatum getting his twerk on – when JLO gave her acceptance speech for the Best Scared-As-Shit Performance she asked Tatum for some dance moves…

Sunday Sessions with Frankie

By | Featured, Music

Having just made an impressive debut performance at SXSW and with a debut EP Dreamstate set to drop in 2 days (on April 14), Frankie might me a relative newcomer to the indie pop scene but she is sizzling hot! With each new song she releases the buzz surrounding her gets bigger. With 800,000 listens on Soundcloud and Spotify, plus a great remix of her track Problems Problems by producer duo BLU J – put her on your list of artists to watch out for this year.

Her latest single New Obession is quite an apt title. Prepare to be intoxicated by her sound and smitten by her charm. Think sweet-girl-next-door crossed with tomboyish girl power – a beautiful mix of retro and contemporary.

This 23-year old singer-songwriter with dreamy synth-pop melodies is 100% in control of her artistic vision. “I want to bridge together the sound of women from the ’70s, like Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell, with women from the ’90s, like Alanis Morissette and The Spice Girls,” Frankie explains. “They were completely unique, sang exactly what was on their minds and represented a real time of girl power, which is something I try to channel into my music.
“Like so many great female singers who came before me, I want fans to listen to my songs and connect with every emotion I’m expressing,” Frankie adds. “Basically, I want you to feel like I’m right there with you, whether you’re in the mood to dance or just need a good cry, I want my music to heal and lift your spirits..”

frankie-Creation5-web2

Frankie is certainly poised to become our new obsession – take a listen to her latest single and the opening track on her debut EP Dreamstate –

Frankie simply oozes California cool – as do the six songs on her debut EP Dreamstate.
01 – New Obsession
02 – Where We Left It
03 – Problems Problems
04 – Blackout
05 – Gold
06 – Chaos

Frankie chose our Sunday Sessions this week (Creation 5 users you will find this playlist under ‘Playlists >> Sunday Sessions’)

1-BORNS- Electric Love
“This song…so vibey and brings me back to The Beach Boys days. I love him and I got a chance to hear this song at SXSW and it was everything. I’m all about harmonies and the chorus makes me dance every single time. This song gets my band and I pumped so no brainer”

2-Labrinth- Jealous
“This was one of my favorite songs of last year… so beautifully written and his vocal performance gives me chills every single time. Such a strong powerful ballad which I’m all about. One of my favorite artists to watch right now, undoubtedly.”

3 -Bebe Rexha- I’m Gonna Show You Crazy
“If this one doesn’t get you ready for Mondays then I don’t know what will…Love her voice and this song is seriously filled with girl power and gets me dancing like crazy. Pun intended. What a cool track and shows such a real side of humanity…love love love!”
